Writer and Literary Translator

(English into Spanish)

Great translation starts with great writing. Understanding a text in English—or simply looking up unknown words in a dictionary—isn’t enough. The real challenge lies in bringing that text to life in another language so it reads naturally, while still honoring both the meaning and the author’s unique voice.

Writing is an art that not everyone can master. And like any art, it needs talent, practice, and passion.

Specializing in Psychology and Social Sciences

I hold a degree in psychology, but my work has been devoted to writing almost from the very beginning. Over the years, I’ve published numerous articles on this website, in newspapers, and on other platforms such as the now-closed About.com, as well as a couple of psychology books.

Later, I began working in translation, both general and specialized in psychology and the social sciences. I obtained the prestigious DipTrans (CIOL Qualifications Level 7 Diploma in Translation) from the UK’s Chartered Institute of Linguists and completed a master’s degree in literary translation.

Since writing is my true passion, it is only natural that my primary interest lies in literary translation, where advanced writing skills are essential for accurately conveying an author’s voice in Spanish—the cadence of the text, its rhythm, its intensity, and, when present, its poetic or musical qualities.

A sample of my work

Services

Translation: psychology and sociology books, novels, short stories, website or newspaper articles...

Book formatting: I can create a text file in the size you need with the right margins for printing, including pagination, justified text, hyphenation where needed, paragraph indentation, and more. I’ll also carefully check to make sure there are no widows or orphans (like when a single line from a paragraph gets left all alone at the top or bottom of a page) or other layout issues. Then, I’ll convert the file into a print-ready .pdf.
